Oh yeah, finished up the first still-life setup. Woo!
Ugh. Printmaking is hard. Ok, so the first image is my original plan for the print. I have two blocks ready to go, but the difference in size is pretty significant, and neither of them are exactly the right proportions. The middle one is the proportions of the smaller block: 7”x11”. The last one is the proportions of the larger block: 11.5”x30”. That one’s a bit closer, but still not quite right.
I’d have to do some editing to my design either way, but I still have to hand print these without a press and I have to keep my wrists in mind with that. I started to make some rough edits on the last one, but I’m not sure how to edit the middle one. Making a new block is something I can’t do right now. Don’t have the right tools to cut something to the right size. I already have paper to print on either way, but the smaller one would make for a larger edition since, I would be able to cut the paper down more.
WHAT DO??
Getting ready for some still life drawan! Aww yeah. Need to dig out some drapery.
Sketches
Going through old sketchbooks looking for ideas that could be fleshed out and found some nice life drawings I never scanned in.
Did you know I have an art blog? It’s super serious. Unlike anything I post here ever. GO FOLLOW IT. I’m actually posting there again.
Moar sketches! Got Franky and Kanji from those thumbnails. I know Kanji’s head is big and his legs are short. I’m fixing that in Photoshop. Also I keep not leaving enough room for Franky’s hand up there. That was the second attempt and it’s better than the other one, but not by enough.
“Double Sami!”, October 2012.
A birthday present for a friend C:
IT’S BACK! I need to print this and frame it. I also wanna frame the Chowder/Perry thing you drew me a while back. We have colorful mats at work I can get!
(tutorial)
i just did a cool thing that i think would be useful if you’re like me and sometimes have a hard time picking colours / a colour scheme for an image
basically i just took a brush with moderate spacing, turned on colour dynamics and set all the hue/sat/brightness to a low (~10%-30%) jitter, picked a base colour, and drew a line down the side of the canvas
it’s sort of like when some people save colour swatches so they can keep their shading consistent, but more for playing around with different tones and lighting on a single surface. it’ll probably be pretty good for skin which is very multi-tonal by nature.
a lot of colours came out that i probably wouldn’t have picked manually, but they still looked pretty cool. and it saves a lot of time because now i have a broad range of colours without having to browse through my pantone swatches or open up the colour picker.
FOUND IT!
Thank’s Marcie~

It’s an Amy! Sugar Rush name would be M’n’Amy? Maybe?
Just an easy trick I learned a few years ago that I thought I’d share. May not work 100% all the time, but works well for simple hand/arm placement.
Reblogging for great justice.
oh neato burritos

This is really clever, actually. Thanks!

I finally got back to working on my Sugar Rush drawings. It’s a Kitters. First finished drawing of 2013! Woo!
Did some things while watching a bunch of One Piece on Hulu. Commercials are annoying, but I don’t have to click anything to watch the next ep. So I’ve got a design for my everyday Christmas card that I can send to family and friends, and some jewelry I made for a Secret Santa Swap. I made the black and red set with matching earrings and the red and silver for my swap partner, and I liked the red and silver one so much I made myself one too. That one pic shows me wearing the second red and silver, along with a Christmas necklace I make ages ago at the Lemon St apartment, but it broke back then too. I recently found the beads and remade it with wire instead of beading string.
So with all this crap, I make up for not doing anything yesterday. Ted’s parents brought us some more furniture and so we cleaned, then moved things, then I worked 5 to 11 pm. Not much time to draw. I did make more progress on a cross stitch on my lunch, tho. I think Imma go back to watching One Piece and work on that some more.
Sketchvember Day 17 and 18.
I was going to do some cleaning before working on something dumb for today’s sketchvember post. Then I got a text from my mom saying I need to call home. Our family dog, Jerry, passed away today. He was an 11 year old English Springer Spaniel. We had him since he was a puppy. I’m sad that I wasn’t there to see him in the past couple months, but I did spend two whole years at home before this. I got to spend plenty of time loving him.
I will miss you so much, Jerry. I love you.
Something special for any Regretsians following me. Working on some designs for my Christmas cards for the swap and some additional designs that I may make available at some point. Just enjoying playing with markers. And making my wrist hurt.
Sketchvember day 13.
